EnviroScape Demonstrations
Using a three dimensional EnviroScape Model, The Conservation District, can illustrate residential, recreational, agricultural, industrical and transporation areas - all representing possible sources of nonpoint source water pollution. Students learn by using chemicals (kool-aide drink mix) and loose soil (cocoa powder) throughout a typical community to see how their actions and those of others may affect our water quality. Best managment practices can also be illustrated. Felt buffer strips as vegetation, clay to create berms andother methods to show conservtion and water pollution prevention measures at work.
The EnviroScape demonstration is a great educational tool for students of all ages. If you are intrested in having a district representative come and give an EnviroScape demonstration to your group or class, please call Merry Floyd at (803) 435-2612 xt 101.
